This photo shoot challenge was started by Lorna and eija. Lorna wanted to start a photo-a-day blog and that idea evolved into challenging others to find God’s Kingdom through their lenses.
The rules:
- Anyone is welcome to join the challenge.
- Your blog: You can use your old/main/existing blog or set up a new one just for this challenge, as we did. The choice is yours, we’re not picky :)
- To join the challenge, do item 4 from this list, then let me know by leaving a comment here so I can add you to the blogroll. (don’t forget to tell me your blog url!)
- Due to the impossible restrictions of the free WordPress.com platform the blogroll is in delicious. You don’t have to register there or log in, just do one of the following, depending on which blogging platform you’re using:
.
WordPress.comGo to Appearance -> Widgets -> Add the del.icio.us -widget to your sidebar.
Fill in the fields:
Widget title -> Eyes of Faith participants
del.icio.us login -> eyesoffaith
number of links -> something big, like 100 (we’re optimistic and believe that we’ll get loads and loads of participants!)
Click Save and the blogroll is ready.
.
Then add the button widget:
Add a text-widget above the del.icio.us -widget.
You can leave the Title-field empty if you want to.
In the main window add the button code: CODE (in new window) Click “save” and your sidebar is ready.
.
Blogs with javascript possibilities (e.g. blogger):Add this piece of code to your sidebar: CODE (in new window)
The code includes both the blogroll code and the button code.
E.g. in Blogger you need to add a html/javascript gadget. The title is not necessary but in the main window add the script code and click save. - Equipment: Anything that takes a photo. A phone, a digital camera, a film camera, pocket version, bridge, slr… anything. The issue here is the contents of the photo, not the quality or the photographer’s skill level.
- If you want to follow the the Daily Shoot themes that’s great. However, do feel free to post something else if you prefer.
- Take your photo today and post today. However, again if you in no way can take a photo today, dig into your archives. It’s better to post something than nothing. But even if you miss a day that will not be the end of the world! We don’t want to get legalistic with this, just setting the preferred goals.
- When you plan your post try to find God in your photo. So it’s not just about the day’s theme but about how God’s Kingdom can be seen in it or what He speaks to you through the photo.
- We’re officially starting September 1st 2010 but you’re welcome to join us any time. Until the official starting day we’re posting unofficial rehearsal posts :)
- Edited to add: And if you can’t participate daily – don’t worry. It’s better to do something than nothing! So even if the idea is to post daily, just post when you can :)
