207/365: solid food

(Good) Friday: April 24th

It’s not really in the spirit of either the primitive church or that of many denominations today (grin), but today our puppies broke their fast and ate solid (meat-based) food for the very first time! That it was lamb is interesting, but probably not that significant for them …

What it really made me think about, however, as I watched them try their teeth for the first time, is how in the letter to the Hebrews we are taught that

solid food is for the mature, who by constant use have trained themselves to distinguish good from evil. (Heb 5:14)

Someone wise once said “we are what we eat” … and I think that applies not only to the actual food we consume but what we feast our eyes, ears and heart on.
