21: billboard voting

It’s not only the USA who has presidential elections. Today (Sunday 22nd January) the people of Finland will choose who the next president of Finland. Should no candidate get 50% of the vote, then the two candidates with the most number of votes will face a head to head in February.

(taken in early Jan on the Cathedral Bridge in Turku. It seems rather quaint and old fashioned to list the presidential hopefuls in this way doesn’t it?)

Scripture tells us to pray for our leaders. Holding the nation of Finland before Him today.

Pekka Haavisto (number 2) was the runner up to Sauli Niinisto earlier today. Neither got more than 50% of the vote, so there will be a face off in two weeks. Exciting as Haavisto represents the Green Party and Niinisto the Conservatives. Both would make excellent presidents in my opinion – but I don’t have a vote
